Payment Instructions

General instructions for international payments to banks in ETHIOPIA:

• Ensure remitter obtains all required bank information from the beneficiary such as SWIFT BIC, account number, and beneficiary bank address.
• FX payments can only be made to on-shore residents.
• The ordering customer must include account number, full name (no initials), and address in SWIFT MT103 F50. Use of initials can delay funds.
• The beneficiary customer must include account number, branch name, full name (no initials), and address in SWIFT MT103 F59. Use of initials can delay funds.
• The beneficiary bank must include SWIFT BIC with branch identifier (if required), full name, and address in SWIFT MT103 F57. SWIFT BIC is 8 or 11 alphanumeric characters: xxxxETxx or xxxxETxxxxx.
• Purpose of payment is recommended in SWIFT MT103 F70.
